I entered the world of barbecue because my grandfather, Ardie Davis, is not only a huge figure in barbecue communities, but a successful author, a founding member of the Kansas City Barbecue Society, and a member of the Barbecue Hall of Fame. My parents are not involved in barbecue very much, so once I turned 16, I took the Kansas City Barbecue Judge Certification class. I have only been to a few tournaments as I have school full time, but I do what I can and plan on continuing barbecue judging for as long as I can.

My goals in the barbecue world are to become a Master Judge by participating in 30 contests, where I volunteer, help a team, judge and assist in the tournament, along with getting a PhB. The PhB is a made up Doctorate in the Philosophy of Barbecue from the Greasehouse University (also made up) and is a very prestigious title, as you must submit a dissertation about some aspect of barbecue and defend it in front of a panel of other PhB members. This is something that I most likely will not achieve for at least 30-40 years, but I have a leg up because I am starting much earlier than the average judge, which gives me something to always work towards. Striving to get better and ensure that truth, justice, excellence in barbeque, and the American way of life, may be strengthened and preserved forever.
